About the Event

The Department of Languages is celebrating the birth anniversary of the renowned Indian storyteller RK Narayan on October 11, 2024. To honor his literary contributions, the department has organized the Storytelling Carnival- a screening and discussion of an episode from the TV series, Malgudi Days.
Based on Narayan's captivating short stories, Malgudi Days brings to life the quaint town of Malgudi. The episode shows Narayan's storytelling, exploring themes of friendship, childhood and social commentary.
Additionally, the department also invites students to the Spin a Yarn competition, where students can get a chance to narrate a story and practice the art of storytelling. The competition offers students a platform to hone their storytelling skills and narrate their own tales, fostering creativity, and confidence in speaking.
The event invites students and literature enthusiasts to delve into Narayan's world, exploring the nuances of his writing and the cultural context that shaped his work.
