About the Event
Duniya Ka Dhandha (Family Business) centers on the generational conflict between Ram Kumar Misra and his son, Sonu, over continuing their family’s traditional business of begging. Sonu, an MBA graduate, initially rejects the idea, viewing it as degrading compared to his education. His father, however, sees begging as an honorable trade passed down for generations, even secured with prime real estate near the Maa Laxmi Temple.
The play explores the tension between family legacy and modern aspirations, as Sonu struggles to reconcile his ambitions with the pressures of tradition. Manju Devi, Sonu’s mother, and Ajit Singh, their uncle, attempt to mediate, while a dramatic encounter with foreigners, Mr. and Mrs. Williams, leads to the commercialization of the begging business.
Through humor and poignant moments, "Duniya Ka Dhandha" addresses themes of dignity, self-worth, societal expectations, and the complex dynamic between personal dreams and family obligations.
