About the Event
The Department of English, Christ University, Pune Lavasa Campus , is pleased to host an academic session titled "Foundations of the Indian Constitution: Exploring the Basics of Constitutional Law", designed for postgraduate students of English with Digital Humanities. This interdisciplinary event aims to introduce the key tenets of the Indian Constitution and examine how constitutional principles shape cultural, political, and digital narratives in modern India.
In aligning with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 4 (Quality Education) and 10 (Reduced Inequalities), this session fosters inclusive and equitable learning by offering all students—regardless of disciplinary background—access to foundational legal knowledge. The initiative promotes critical awareness of rights, freedoms, and responsibilities as they intersect with digital communication, cultural production, and democratic engagement.With a focus on the Constitution’s historical origins, structure, and contemporary significance, the session will also explore themes such as digital rights, free speech, and legal literacy in digital spaces.
The session, led by Prof. Shubham Thakur, Assistant Professor, Department of Law, Christ University, Pune Lavasa Campus,, will feature interactive components including case discussions and Q&A, nurturing analytical thinking and responsible digital citizenship in line with NEP 2020’s interdisciplinary and socially responsive vision.
