Books in Search of Readers is a reader-centric initiative jointly organized by the Library and Information Center in association with the Readers Club, scheduled to be held on 12th and 13th February 2026 (Thursday and Friday) from 10.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. The event will be conducted at the Amphitheater, Management Block (13th February 2026) and the Quadrangle, Central Block (14th February 2026). The programme aims to actively connect library resources with potential readers by taking books beyond the conventional library setting and placing them in commonly accessed campus spaces.
Under this initiative, newly acquired and highly recommended books from the library collection will be attractively displayed to enhance their visibility and accessibility. By bringing books closer to students, faculty members, and staff, the event encourages spontaneous browsing, discovery, and renewed interest in reading. The initiative seeks to shift reading from a routine activity to an engaging and participative experience.
Participants will be provided with the facility to borrow books directly from the display locations, with assistance from library staff, ensuring ease of access and immediate engagement. This approach promotes reading habits, increases awareness of the library’s print and special collections, and encourages optimal utilization of available resources.
The expected outcomes of the event include increased circulation of library books, improved reading habits among the university community, enhanced user engagement with library services, and strengthened collaboration between the Library and Information Center and the Readers Club. Overall, Books in Search of Readers contributes significantly to fostering a vibrant reading culture and reinforces the library’s role as a dynamic Center for learning,knowledge sharing, and intellectual growth within the academic community.
