LEARNERS TO LEADERS: STUDENT VOLUNTEERISM

CSA’s Student Volunteerism is helping students transform from being Learners to Leaders. Students are engaged through six cohorts, with each cohort led by three or four representatives and guided by a mentor.

We sensitize student volunteers through structured programs. Student initiatives are directed to focus on child development and societal betterment. The student program consists of:

CSA Student Volunteerism

Cohort 1 - Education and Skill Development (Learn. Ignite. Discover.)

The Education and Skill Development cohort under CSA aims to incentivise education for all through the volunteers' body and resources. It aligns with the Right to Education and NILP government policy, focusing on education and development of children in the Centre's adopted project areas and skill development for dropouts. This involves various training and workshop programs to incentivise soft and hard skills, equipping learners for jobs and career choices. Volunteers engage in daily teaching sessions and events with an emphasis on education and skill development.

Cohort 2 - Environment and Sustainability (Revive. Resurge. Restore.)

The Environment and Sustainability cohort fosters awareness and understanding of environmental issues, aligning with SDGs 7, 13, and 15. It aims to promote and instill sustainability practices through initiatives that engage individuals and communities in proactive steps for a sustainable future, raising awareness, and educating about environmental challenges.

Cohort 3 - Health, Hygiene, and Well-Being (Care. Nurture. Support.)

This cohort promotes health development and accessibility across communities, sensitizes on health education, and supports clean habits. Activities align with the Ayushman Bharat Initiative and UN SDGs 1 (No Poverty), 2 (Zero Hunger), 3 (Good Health & Well-being), and 11 (Sustainable Cities & Community). The goal is to improve health, well-being, and sustainability, imparting knowledge for the betterment of society.

Cohort 4 - Media and Advocacy (Create. Express. Reform.)

The Media and Advocacy cohort manages media, documentation, and communication needs for CSA, and leads sensitization through digital, theatrical, and non-theatrical campaigns.

Drishti

Drishti focuses on mass sensitization through theatre, emphasizing street plays as well as other forms such as stage plays and mimes. Performances occur on campus, in project areas, and across the city for maximum awareness.

Newsletter

‘Sanvaad’, The Catalyst of Social Change, is the monthly newsletter of CSA Lavasa Campus. It highlights the activities conducted by CSA Lavasa during the previous month.

Cohort 5 - Child Sponsorship Programme (Educate. Empower. Elevate.)

The Educate a Child Sponsorship Programme is a flagship initiative of CHRIST (Deemed to be University), where Christites sponsor the education of underprivileged children in project areas. Each year, the Centre supports the education of 40+ students through efforts by the management, faculty and students.

This cohort transforms the UN Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) into reality, conducting awareness campaigns, distributing educational and nutritional kits, and holding review meetings to foster campus social responsibility.

Cohort 6 - Social Entrepreneurship (Initiate. Innovate. Inculcate.)

The Social Entrepreneurship cohort promotes sustainable and inclusive economic growth by developing business skills and innovation through a multi-dimensional approach. Students and alumni gain the ability to manage social enterprises, access support for expansion and marketing, foster self-help groups and empower locals. This aligns with UN SDG 8 (Decent Work & Economic Growth) and SDG 17 (Partnerships). The aim is to create sustainable, resilient communities and a culture of innovation for positive social impact.
