“Together We Can”
The Centre for Social Action (CSA), started in 1999, with the vision of providing a platform for students to work with the community. It also helped to empower underprivileged communities and involved students in social issues, to make them more acquainted with the real world outside academics and inculcate in them a sense of social responsibility. The mission of the University was to facilitate substantial contributions in imparting holistic and value-based education. CSA was designed to enable students to be aware of social realities, imbibe the values of social responsibility as well as get ideas of how they could contribute towards the upliftment of weaker sections. This eventually led to establishing college-community connections to set up a social lab.
The activities in the Centre create a deep sense of social responsibility among students as they closely interact with children, women and the underprivileged communities at large. They initiate development-oriented plans, based on the needs of the community, which taps into their creativity to intervene in an impactful way and also helps them to gain a different perspective towards life, beyond academics. It helps students to grow holistically, which is the ultimate goal of CSA. It empowers student volunteers to contribute towards the society they live in and helps them to grow personally, intellectually and professionally.
