The session will introduce the idea that stories are not limited to language but can also take form through tactile and material engagement. Led by Dr. Sangeeta Jawla, who brings expertise in the multidisciplinary study of Indian pottery traditions, the workshop draws on methodologies of material culture to extend the boundaries of storytelling. Students will be invited to work with clay, shaping it into forms that represent imagination, memory, or abstract concepts. This hands-on process will allow them to experience clay as both a medium and a metaphor—malleable, fragile, and deeply rooted in human histories of craft and culture. Through acts of molding, breaking, and remaking, participants will encounter storytelling as a participatory and performative practice. The workshop emphasizes the intersections between literature, material culture, and digital humanities, encouraging reflection on embodiment, creativity, and the diverse ways stories can be archived and shared.
