The Teaching Learning Enhancement Cell (TLEC) of CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus, organized an orientation session titled “Academic Report to Patent” on 20 November 2025. The session aimed to guide faculty and students on transforming academic work into patentable outcomes, thereby promoting innovation and research excellence on campus.
The resource person for the session, Debrata Samanta, Patent & Copyright Filing Coach and Department Chair, Department of Computing and Information Technologies, Rochester Institute of Technology, Tirana, Europe, provided valuable insights into patent filing procedures. He explained the significance of identifying novel elements in academic research and structuring them effectively to meet patenting standards. The speaker highlighted the various stages of the patenting process, including prior art search, drafting, documentation, and legal considerations.
The session was held from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM in Room 1104, Central Block, and witnessed active participation from faculty members and students. Participants engaged in meaningful discussions and clarified doubts related to intellectual property rights and copyright filing. Overall, the orientation served as a practical and informative platform, encouraging the academic community to convert innovative ideas into protectable intellectual property.
