Overview

At the Centre for Academic and Professional Support (CAPS), an independent center of CHRIST (Deemed to be University), CAPS provides support to students, faculty, and researchers seeking assistance to enhance their skills in the academic and professional spheres. Our "learning while working" approach empowers one to hone leadership skills with nurturing peer support. We are committed to helping individuals sharpen their skills and achieve career success.

 

Scope

CAPS aims to reach out to all students, scholars, teaching faculty members, and other staff members of the University by means of its initiative.

 

Purpose

To provide assistance to the students and faculty of the university with academic and professional skills, primarily through peer trainers from the student body, for the purpose of exchanging knowledge and experience in order to harness expertise.

Vision

To be the benchmark in the global academic circles in providing professional and academic-based solutions to in-house as well as external customers. 

Mission

To provide not only a shared platform for the entire university, but also to exchange knowledge and experience, in order to harness expertise in the academic as well as professional sphere.

Mission

Objectives

    • To promote the spirit of volunteering through peer training initiatives.
    • To transform the traditional classroom learning setup into an interactive, personalised, 24x7 learning system led primarily by peer trainers. To support and foster learning that focuses on a multi-disciplinary approach to critical thinking, problem solving, innovation, teamwork, etc.
    • To introduce experiential, holistic, integrated, inquiry-driven, student-centred, discussion-based, flexible learning and teaching experiences.
    • To build character and enable learners to be ethical, rational, compassionate and caring while, at the same time, preparing them for gainful and successful employment.
    • To create awareness of the importance of academic and professional skills for excellence in academia and professional workspaces.
    • To provide academic and professional support that empowers students in areas of academic writing, research formatting, professional submissions, placement preparation, and managerial presentations.
    • To complement and fill the gaps in the existing curriculum and provide the required skills for the holistic growth of individuals to suit the dynamic employment landscape.
    • To provide effective channels of interaction using the existing resources and harnessing expertise (dynamism of the student community and experience & competence of the teaching fraternity) to share and communicate knowledge.
