Master of Arts Clinical Psychology (Recognised by RCI) - Overview

The M.A. Clinical Psychology programme offered at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Yeshwanthpur Campus is a Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) approved programme designed to train competent mental health professionals through rigorous academic, clinical, and research-oriented training. The curriculum integrates foundational and advanced knowledge in clinical psychology with supervised practicum, psychological assessment, psychotherapy training, and multidisciplinary mental health exposure. The programme enables students to develop competencies in diagnosis, assessment, intervention planning, psychotherapy, ethical clinical practice, and evidence-based mental health care across diverse populations and settings. In addition, students are trained in scientific inquiry through research methodology, proposal development, dissertation work, and dissemination of research findings relevant to contemporary mental health concerns. The programme also emphasizes holistic development by integrating academic learning with reflective practice, professional ethics, community engagement, and personal growth. Through structured internships and supervised clinical training, students are prepared to function as responsible and competent professionals within hospitals, rehabilitation centres, educational institutions, mental health organizations, and community settings.
Candidates who successfully complete the two-year M.A. Clinical Psychology programme are eligible to register with the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) under the Central Rehabilitation Register (CRR) as “Clinical Psychologist” and practice independently as trained professionals in the field. Graduates may also pursue advanced professional training and higher education opportunities, including Psy.D. Clinical Psychology programmes, subject to eligibility criteria.
