FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME
This Faculty Development Programme, themed "Sustainable Development Goals through the Lens of Legal Research," addresses the gap between the 2030 Agenda's seventeen SDGs and the preparedness of law faculty to engage with them. Despite their implications across constitutional, environmental, international, and human rights law, legal education remains largely doctrinal, interdisciplinary scholarship stays limited, and courts increasingly adjudicate SDG-linked disputes—making capacity-building imperative under the existing legal framework. The programme familiarises faculty participants with the SDG framework and its legal intersections, equips them with doctrinal, socio-legal, and empirical research methodologies, and enables them to identify legislative gaps supporting reform. It guides faculty in integrating SDGs into LLB and LLM curricula, publishing in peer-reviewed journals, and securing grants from UGC, ICSSR, DST, and international bodies. By fostering a collaborative research community, the FDP sustains engagement with sustainability, empowering faculty to research, teach, and advance India's sustainable development commitments through law.
