The Department of Statistics and Data Science, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus, is organising the next session of the Mathematics for Planet Earth Online Lecture Series titled “Mathematics of Music: Sound, Rhythm and Harmony” on 24 September 2026, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM IST, in online mode.

The session will be delivered by Prof. Preeti Rao, Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay). The lecture will explore the fascinating connections between mathematics and music, examining how mathematical ideas help us understand sound, rhythm, harmony, and musical patterns. It will also offer participants a glimpse into how signal processing and computational approaches are used to analyse music.
