The ₹1,000 Crore Family Office Challenge: Investment Committee Role Play is an experiential learning activity designed for students of Alternative Investments. The activity places students in the role of a professional family-office investment committee responsible for managing a hypothetical portfolio of ₹1,000 crore. Each team studies an assigned real-world family-office or family-investment case and applies key lessons to portfolio construction and investment decision-making.

Students assume professional roles such as Chief Investment Officer, Chief Risk Officer, Head of Alternative Investments, and Family Principal. They evaluate allocations across hedge funds, private equity, venture capital, REITs, infrastructure, commodities, private credit, and cash reserves. The role play emphasises portfolio suitability, diversification, liquidity management, governance, risk awareness, and long-term wealth preservation. Conducted as a closed-book assessment, the activity concludes with an oral investment committee defence, enabling students to demonstrate analytical judgement, professional communication, teamwork, and application of alternative investment concepts in a realistic decision-making environment.
