The transition from academic finance and commerce education to professional banking requires students to connect financial knowledge with practical workplace competencies. The “Banking Skills: From Classroom to Branch” session was designed to bridge this gap by introducing students to real-world banking practices, professional expectations and career opportunities.

The session focused on core banking functions including credit assessment, financial analysis, customer relationship management and banking operations. Students were encouraged to connect classroom concepts of finance and accounting to practical banking decisions while building awareness of credit assessment, risk, and responsible financial decision-making.

The session featured Sankamithra T, Branch Sales & Service Executive, Karur Vysya Bank, a finance and accounting professional with an M.Com in Finance & Accounting from Bharathiar University and a B.Com from Bishop Heber College. Her previous role as an Analyst at State Street HCL Services included Fixed-Income NAV computation for client funds, giving her valuable exposure to financial services operations and investment processes.
