Beyond Being Heard: Lived Experiences, Mental Health & the Power of Real Voices is a World Mental Health Day 2026 initiative organised by the School of Sciences, Department of Computer Science on 10 October 2026. The event brings together lived experiences, dialogue, creative expression, and student-led engagement to foster a more empathetic and inclusive understanding of mental health and well-being.

The celebration will feature an interactive session, “The Human Behind the Experience: Mental Health & Inclusion,” with Ms. Mudita Jagota, Disability Rights Advocate and doctoral scholar in Counselor Education and Supervision, specialising in disability and rehabilitation. The session invites participants to look beyond labels, diagnoses, and disabilities to understand the person and lived experience behind them, while exploring the intersections of mental health, identity, disability, inclusion, and accessibility.

Adding a vibrant student-led dimension, students of B.Sc. Psychology, Computer Science will engage the wider campus community through a flashmob, Mood & Mingle, Beyond the Label, and Letters of Strength. Through music, movement, meaningful conversations, reflection, and messages of hope, these initiatives aim to encourage connection, challenge assumptions, and nurture resilience.

Together, the celebration seeks to create a campus environment where lived experiences are valued, voices are heard, and individuals feel seen, respected, supported, and included.
