Archives in Action: Exploring Cultural Memory and Digital Preservation An Experiential Learning Visit to Tata Central Archives, Pune
The Department of English and Cultural Studies, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus, is organising an academic visit to Tata Central Archives, Pune, for students of MA in English with Digital Humanities.
The visit aims to provide students with practical exposure to archival practices, institutional heritage management and digital preservation. Through guided exploration and interaction with archival professionals, students will gain insights into the processes of collecting, documenting, cataloguing and preserving historical records.
The visit will bridge classroom learning with professional practices while introducing students to emerging career opportunities in digital archiving, cultural heritage management and museum studies. It will also encourage students to reflect on the role of archives in preserving collective memory and making historical knowledge accessible.
This experiential learning initiative seeks to strengthen interdisciplinary learning, research skills and industry-oriented exposure within the Digital Humanities programme.
