The Library and Information Centre, in association with The Readers’ Club at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus, is organising “Books in Search of Readers: A Diwali Special” on 4 and 5 November 2026. The initiative aims to promote reading habits, increase awareness of library resources, and encourage the university community to explore diverse reading materials during the Diwali festive season.

The event will be conducted on 4 November from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Quadrangle, Central Block, and on 5 November from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Amphitheatre, Management Block. Selected books, new arrivals, academic publications, and literary works across various genres will be displayed for students, faculty, and staff members. Participants will have the opportunity to browse the collection and borrow their preferred books on the spot, making library resources more accessible and encouraging immediate engagement with reading.

A special attraction of the event will be the Blind Book Date initiative, introduced by The Readers’ Club. In this activity, books will be presented with clues rather than prominently displaying their titles or authors. This element of curiosity and surprise will encourage participants to discover unfamiliar authors, explore different genres, and broaden their reading preferences.

The event seeks to strengthen the campus reading culture, promote lifelong learning, and increase the utilization of library resources. It also supports Quality Education by encouraging access to learning materials and intellectual enrichment.

Overall, the initiative aims to make reading an enjoyable recreational activity while fostering curiosity, independent learning, and greater engagement with the library’s diverse collection.
