READERS CLUB

About the Club

The Readers Club at CHRIST (Deemed to be University) is a vibrant literary community that brings together passionate readers to celebrate the joy of books. With the tagline “Read, Connect, Explore,” the club provides an inclusive platform for students and faculty to engage in enriching discussions, exchange book recommendations, and explore diverse genres and authors. Through regular meetings and a wide range of literary events, the club nurtures critical thinking, communication skills, and a lifelong love for reading while fostering meaningful connections and shared learning experiences.

To create a vibrant and inclusive community of readers inspired to explore diverse literature, develop critical thinking, and foster a lifelong love for reading, learning, and literary engagement.
Mission
  • Provide a welcoming platform for students and faculty to connect through books and literary discussions.
  • Organize meaningful literary events that stimulate intellectual curiosity and cultural awareness.
  • Encourage exploration of diverse genres and authors to broaden perspectives.
  • Nurture a collaborative environment supporting personal growth and academic enrichment.

Objectives

  • Encourage a passion for reading
    Explore a variety of genres and authors.
  • Develop analytical and critical thinking skills
    Promote thoughtful discussion of themes, characters, and narratives.
  • Expose members to diverse cultures and ideas
    Engage with global perspectives through literature.
  • Foster a supportive literary community
    Encourage sharing of ideas, reflections, and experiences.

Events Conducted

  1. Books in Search of Readers

Held on 15 October 2024 at the Quadrangle, this initiative brought new and lesser-known books to common spaces, increasing accessibility and resulting in 56 books being issued.

  1. Book Review Competition

Conducted on 21 September 2024, the competition promoted critical thinking and literary appreciation, with participants receiving feedback, certificates, and book prizes.

  1. Script to Screen

Organized on National Librarian’s Day, this quiz explored book-to-film adaptations, engaging 122 participants in an interactive and rewarding literary experience.

  1. LexisNexis Training Sessions

Held on 13 February 2025, the training enhanced legal research skills through hands-on demonstrations and expert guidance on advanced research tools.
